Early Game Progression

Prioritize the main story. Doing so unlocks farming, dailies, stamina-consuming content, and more. You will also notice mission-like objectives you'll complete naturally as you play (such as "Catch 3 Kibo"). These belong to "Star Journey Records," a mission list that teaches the game's content step by step.

Star Journey Records: Star Journey Records contains knowledge needed to survive in this world. Progressing through its entries deepens your understanding of the world. Use the Track button to quickly track a selected entry.

Completing Star Journey Records grants many rewards that are extremely useful for subsequent progression. Clear these missions as you go.

Catching Kibo

Wild monsters known as Kibo can be captured using Stella Cards. Capturing Kibo is called Star Link in the game. The success rate of Star Link can be raised by lowering the Kibo's HP or by using a higher-rarity Stella Card. In the early game, Star Link every new Kibo you find.

Kibo are important for the farming system described below and for gaining the upper hand in combat. Stella Cards can be produced, but their supply is limited. Don't burn Stella Cards on every Kibo you see. However, starting the early farming system is difficult without a certain number of Kibo.

Farming

Advancing the main story to a certain point unlocks the farm system. Through it you produce a wide range of items: weapons, armor, farm tools, meals, Stella Cards, and saddles for riding Kibo.

Early construction and production require stone and wood in large amounts. Stone and wood can be gathered directly in the field, but direct gathering alone won't keep up with the demands of construction and production. The field contains gathering facilities such as logging camps and quarries; once unlocked and staffed with dispatched Kibo, they collect resources automatically. The field gathering facilities in the first map, Sprout Valley, are the main resource supply of the early game, so discovering and unlocking them is a top priority. Facility locations can be checked on the Map.

Unlock the Logging Camp and Quarry first and dispatch Kibo to them. Next in priority are the Gathering Hut, Hunting Ground, and Mining Camp. If you have spare capacity, also unlock the Element Altar, Feeding Ground, and Fishery. The number of Kibo you can dispatch is limited. Prioritize gathering facilities that are in demand.

PriorityFacilityDescription
★★★Logging CampGathers wood, a basic item required for all kinds of production
★★★QuarryGathers stone, a basic item required for all kinds of production
★★Gathering HutGathers food that keeps your Kibo fed. Kibo whose satiety drops stop working
Once the farm takes shape, food can be produced inside the farm
★★Hunting GroundGathers leather needed for saddles and equipment, and meat needed for cooking
Early-game demand is lower than wood and stone
★★Mining CampGathers ore needed for Stella Cards and equipment
Demand is lower than wood and stone, and a fair amount is handed out as rewards from various content early on
★Element AltarGathers minerals needed for character stat upgrades and Kibo evolution
Demand is very high overall, but a fair amount is handed out as rewards from various content early on
★Feeding GroundGathers eggs that hatch into Kibo.
This is an important facility because some Kibo can only be obtained from eggs, but its early-game priority is low
★FisheryGathers fish meat and similar cooking ingredients
Low priority early on because other facilities are in far higher demand

Combat System

Up to 3 characters can be deployed in a team, and you control any one of them during battle. Each character can be assigned a partner Kibo, and the Kibo assigned to the active character automatically joins the fight.

In-game termCommon termDescription
Normal AttackNormal AttackAn attack triggered by pressing the attack button

Star Companion SkillSwitch SkillA special skill that activates when the active character is switched. Some trigger on entry and others on exit
Star BlessingPassive SkillA passive skill that is always active or activates automatically when specific conditions are met
Kibo Strike-The cooperative attack skill of the partnered Kibo

You can answer enemy attacks with perfect dodges, counters, guards, and parries. Attacks with a yellow effect can be parried with a well-timed guard, while attacks with a red effect cannot be parried. Perfect dodge and dodge counter, however, work even against red-effect attacks.

Combat Tips

During battle, small element icons line up above the HP bar. These icons are Tuning Marks, showing which buffs are active on your team.

Japanese in-game help image: Thunder Tuning

Tuning Marks stack up to 5 per element, and higher stacks grant stronger bonuses. Tuning Marks are shared by the whole team and gradually expire over time. When Tuning Marks from multiple elements are present, their effects apply simultaneously.

Tuning is gained by using skills with specific characters or Kibo, or by meeting certain conditions. Characters have professions, which divide them into types that consume Tuning, types that do not, and types that generate it. Even consumption-type characters, however, often have specific skills that generate Tuning.
