Best Pals for the Ranch

You can assign only 4 Pals to a single Ranch, so set your priorities around the materials you use most. Egg, Milk, and Honey are Cake ingredients in particular, and breeding burns through Cake fast, so line up these 3 Pals early.

Chikipi1

EggEggs are an essential Cake ingredient. With a food intake of just 1 it costs almost nothing to keep, and you can catch one on the early-game plains, so make Chikipi the first Pal you put in your Ranch.

Mozzarina2

MilkMilk is another Cake ingredient. Mozzarina has Farming work suitability Lv2, and its Milk is useful in a wide range of dishes.

Beegarde3

HoneyHoney is a Cake ingredient too, and Beegarde brings Farming work suitability Lv3. Pair it with Chikipi and Mozzarina and you can supply all your own Cake, keeping breeding running non-stop.

Lamball1

WoolWool is the material for Cloth and undershirts. You can get it from the very start of the game, so it feeds straight into preparing cold- and heat-resistant gear.

Melpaca2

WoolMelpaca drops the same Wool but with Farming work suitability Lv2. You can also ride it around, so early on it easily doubles as a mount.

Sibelyx3

High Quality ClothHigh Quality Cloth has an extremely wide range of uses, from armor to gliders. With Farming work suitability Lv3, Sibelyx becomes a mainstay from the mid-game on.

Sibelyx Primo4

High Quality ClothSibelyx Primo drops the same High Quality Cloth as Sibelyx but has Farming work suitability Lv4. Swap it in as soon as you can get hold of one.

How to Build a Ranch and Assign Pals

• Throw a Pal into the Ranch to assign it. Each Ranch can hold up to 4 Pals.
• If you throw in another Pal while 4 are already assigned, one of them gets unassigned in its place. To put 5 or more Pals to work, build multiple Ranches.
• Produced items drop on the ground around the Ranch, so collect them regularly.
• If assigning doesn't work, going back to the title screen once, or fast traveling to another base and returning, sometimes fixes it.

How to Boost Ranch Production

• Raising the Partner Skill level with the Pal Essence Condenser increases the number of items dropped in 1 production cycle. You can check the exact amount in the Partner Skill section in-game.
• Passive skills and research that boost Work Speed do not increase Ranch production speed. Pick your Ranch Pals by the items they drop and their appetite, not by Work Speed.
• Choosing Pals with a small appetite keeps your base's food consumption down.
• Nocturnal Pals stay active at night, so production is less likely to stop after dark.

Mass-Produce Plantation Seeds at the Ranch

Assign Vaelet to the Ranch and it will produce 6 types of Plantation seeds all at once. The in-game info on where Carrot Seeds, Onion Seeds, and Potato Seeds drop or can be bought is unclear, so Ranch production is the most stable way to get them.
