Updated: 2026-09-28

This chart lists the matchups confirmed by the official element card and the NOTEBOOK screen in the JP CBT. Attacking with an element that beats the target deals 25% more damage, and attacking with an element the target beats deals 25% less.

The Elements

  • The in-game help says the world has nine elements, and every character and Kibo has one.
  • The nine elements are Fire, Water, Ice, Nature, Wind, Earth, Thunder, Light, and Dark.
  • The official element card and the NOTEBOOK screen also show Neutral in the center. Neutral has no matchup arrows.
  • Check character elements on the character list and Kibo elements on the Kibo list.

  • A favorable matchup increases damage by 25%. The damage number shows an up arrow.
  • An unfavorable matchup reduces damage by 25%. The damage number turns gray.

  • For how matchups affect team building, see Best Team.

Light and Dark

  • Light and Dark sit outside the ring of seven. On the official element card, a two-way arrow links them.
  • Light attacking Dark and Dark attacking Light are both favorable matchups.
  • Light and Dark have no matchups with the other elements.

Enemies with Multiple Elements

  • Some enemies have more than one element. The matchup then takes all of their elements into account (in-game help).
  • The NOTEBOOK screen in the JP CBT also has a label for matchups against multiple elements.
  • The exact calculation is not published.

Kibo Fight Matchups

  • Element matchups also matter in Kibo Fight. After you pick a Kibo, a hint above the enemy shows whether the matchup is favorable or unfavorable (in-game help).
  • The Kibo Fight damage modifier is not published.
  • The update plan on official JP X (2026-08-18) says Kibo Fight will be rebuilt, including its rules and battle system.
