Treat the timer as a route budget
Record where you enter, where safe air is available, and how long the return takes without combat. The displayed time is not all exploration time: part of it already belongs to the exit route.

Outbound scan
Identify side routes but do not take every one on the first pass.

Spend the middle of the timer on the single reason you entered.

Return reserve
Leave room for one fight, one wrong turn, and a slower climb than expected.
Make explicit risk decisions

| Timer healthy, route unknown | Map landmarks and preserve a simple return |
| Inventory full | Return; extra loot has no value if the expedition is lost |
| Exit uncertain or timer low | Stop looting and follow the safest known line |
Carry a route-focused loadout
A Shroud loadout must solve movement and exit problems as well as combat. Keep the action bar readable, know which item restores which resource, and avoid filling every slot with situational loot before entry.
- One dependable damage option with enough ammunition or charges
- A close-range or defensive answer when the route narrows
- Food and recovery chosen before the timer starts
- Empty inventory space for the objective and high-value finds
Coordinate the return in co-op
A group gains combat power but can lose time when players split or wait for one more chest. Agree on the objective, a regroup landmark, and the turnaround call before entering.
