The game is currently in Steam Early Access on Update 8 / v0.9.1.2. Keen Games has announced October 15 for the Steam 1.0 release and says more optimization, quality-of-life, and content details will arrive before launch.
What kind of game is Enshrouded?
Its structure combines directed quests with free exploration. A session can move from combat and resource gathering to survivor rescue, crafting upgrades, terrain editing, and detailed base construction without selecting a permanent class.
Shape a flexible combat build
Combine an open skill tree and gear around warrior, ranger, mage, or hybrid playstyles. Update 8 added focus specials, heavy attacks, and broad skill upgrades.
Create an original sanctuary
Use voxel terraforming and flexible construction tools to restore ruins, carve terrain, or build a settlement from the ground up.
The core progression loop
Progress is shared between the character, the world, and the home base. A productive route usually follows this order.
1.Awaken & establish the Flame
Follow the opening objectives and place a recognizable return point.
2.Gather & craft
Turn local resources into tools, stations, food, and expedition supplies.
3.Rescue survivors
Bring specialists home to expand recipes, equipment, and progression choices.
4.Enter the Shroud
Plan a timed route through corrupted zones and return with resources and knowledge.
5.Upgrade & push outward
Improve the Flame, gear, skills, and base so the next expedition reaches farther.

Solo, co-op & world persistence
You can play solo and offline, or invite a group into online co-op. Characters can move between worlds while retaining personal equipment, inventory, levels, skills, and parts of exploration memory; world-bound survivors and many recipes remain tied to each world. Dedicated servers are also supported.
