Clear the Elixir Well walkthrough: Fell Thunderbrute's attacks and how hard they hit us, how we beat it with explosives, and breaking the Shroud Root with an axe.

GameWith Enshrouded EditorialGuide review teamGame version: Update 8 / v0.9.1.2

This page reflects Update 8 / v0.9.1.2. The game is now on Version 1.0, so some details may have changed.

How to Complete Clear the Elixir Well

Clear the Elixir Well is a main quest with three objectives. Before we reached the well, the quest tracker showed Clear The Elixir Well with the objective Reach The Elixir Well. In our playthrough, the next objective, Enter The Elixir Well, changed to Destroy The Shroud Root when we defeated the boss inside, and destroying the root completed the quest.

  1. 1

    Reach The Elixir Well

    Head to the Elixir Well.

  2. 2

    Enter The Elixir Well

Go into the Elixir Well. In our playthrough, the Shroud timer started when we glided down into the Shroud on the way, so it was already counting down when ELIXIR WELL appeared at the entrance. Fight your way down past the enemies inside and defeat Fell Thunderbrute.

  3. 3

    Destroy The Shroud Root

Switch to an Axe, the woodcutting tool that shows Cut tree, and hit the Shroud Root until it breaks.

How to Defeat Fell Thunderbrute

The boss's health bar reads FELL THUNDERBRUTE and does not show a level. The game does not name its attacks, so the names below are ours.

What to knowDetail
Double Slash + Overhead SlamTwo horizontal sweeps, then it raises its weapon and slams it into the ground
Overhead SlamIt raises its weapon and slams the ground, sending a shockwave along the ground
KickA forward kick with one leg, which we saw at close range

In our playthrough, a horizontal sweep hit for 15 and the shockwave for 23. A slam at very close range hit for 65, took nearly half of our health and left us Stunned.

In other attempts, the kick staggered or stunned us, and when our gear was weak, the boss took us down in two to three hits.

In our playthrough, we used 3 Bandages during the fight and threw 7 Explosive Powder Balls, finishing the boss with an explosive.

In another attempt, an explosion left a hole in the ground and we got stuck in it.

In our playthrough, when we moved away from the boss and came back, its health had refilled completely.

In our playthrough, defeating Fell Thunderbrute gave Enemy slain XP +150 and left a Shroud Core, a Fell Thunderbrute Head, Legendary Runes ×4 and a Hatchet. After we picked them up, RECIPE UNLOCKED! Legendary Runes at Blacksmith appeared.

How to Destroy a Shroud Root

At the Shroud Root, the game shows the hint “The Shroud Root is the source of our misery. Destroy it with a felling axe and prosper.”

In our playthrough, each sword hit did only 3 damage to the root, while each axe hit did 18. We had already hit it with the sword for a while, and it broke on the third axe hit.

Hitting the Shroud Root with an axe for 18 damage, with the felling axe hint on screen and the objective Destroy The Shroud Root

In other attempts, explosives such as the Explosive Powder Ball and Explosive Arrows also broke the root quickly.

The item details in our screenshot, from the version we played, showed these values:

What to knowDetail
Explosive Powder BallThrowable, Damage 25 (Fire 25)
Explosive Arrow IBow ammo, Damage 15 (Fire 15)
Item details for the Explosive Powder Ball (Throwable, Damage 25) and Explosive Arrow I (Bow ammo, Damage 15)

Destroying the root gave Quest reward XP +150, the Shroud timer disappeared, and QUEST COMPLETED! Clear The Elixir Well appeared.
