Regulation M-C: What's Changing

Everything Regulation M-C adds on top of M-B: the newly eligible Pokemon, the held items that unlock, and the abilities and moves that join the format. Every Pokemon legal in M-A and M-B stays legal.

No Pokemon, held item or ability was taken away, and the base stats, types and abilities of existing Pokemon are unchanged. Moves are the one exception: Ver 1.2.0 bans a few moves on specific Pokemon — see the balance section below.

Pokemon Joining in M-C

Everything already legal in M-B stays legal. Listed here are only the Pokemon that become usable from M-C onward, counting each alternate form separately.

Mega Evolutions6

Mega Evolution rewrites base stats, typing and ability all at once. The ability matters most — it defines the set — so each card shows it side by side with the base form's.

Held Items Unlocking in M-C

Each Mega Stone unlocks alongside the Mega Evolution it belongs to. Beyond those, the big shift is defensive tech — Rocky Helmet, Red Card, Eject Button — plus the full set of terrain Seeds arriving at once.

Abilities Added in M-C

These arrive with the new Pokemon. Grassy Surge and Psychic Surge add fresh terrain setters, while abilities like Libero and Punk Rock define a set on their own.

Moves Added in M-C

These are learned only by Pokemon joining in M-C — no Pokemon already legal in M-B can use them. Court Change stands out: it rewrites how hazards and screens play out.

Moves With Changed Power3

These moves hit harder here than in the main series. They were unusable before M-C, so they do not appear in the Ver 1.2.0 balance notes — but your damage math will be off if you use the main-series numbers.

Ver 1.2.0 Balance Changes

Update Ver 1.2.0, which ships alongside M-C, bans specific moves on specific Pokemon and cuts the PP of a few others. These are the only changes that take something away, so check here first if you run an existing set.

Moves Banned on Specific Pokemon3

PP Changes2

Our database is still catching up to these values, so some tools may still calculate with the old PP.

About This Page

This page is built from the data already registered in our database. M-C data is still being added, so entries may appear later. Until each tool's regulation switch supports M-C, some screens will keep showing M-B.
