This page is the Monster Hunter Outlanders reroll tier list and a guide to rerolling. It ranks the adventurers (characters) worth aiming for and covers the reroll steps, how long a run takes, and when to stop.

Best Reroll Targets

The top reroll target in Monster Hunter Outlanders is Midori, a limited adventurer. Midori is a Fire attacker who wields a Long Sword and is a huge help as you progress. Pepper is also a standard SSR adventurer we recommend: a powerful ultimate gives Pepper excellent support performance, and Pepper is strong when you control the character directly too.

Should You Reroll?

Not Recommended Because It Takes a Long Time

A single reroll run in Outlanders takes 20–30 minutes, and your chances of pulling an SSR adventurer are very low. The protagonist is very strong, so you can enjoy the story without pulling any SSR adventurers. We don't recommend rerolling over and over.

Create Your Character

After you start the game, download the game data and create your character (the protagonist). You can't save appearance data, so if you have a look in mind, keep separate notes of the parts and colors.

You Can't Change Your Appearance Later

There's currently no way to change the protagonist's appearance later, which makes it one of the game's irreversible choices. If you want a custom look, you need to go through character creation every time, even while rerolling.

Choose Starting Mode for Controls

Control modeFeatures
Starting
  • Easy to play with just three buttons: Attack, Evade, and Special
  • Shows all combat info and guides
  • Recommended for beginners
Hunting
  • Finer controls closer to the original Monster Hunter games
  • Use moves freely
  • Fewer on-screen guides
  • Recommended for intermediate players and up

When the tutorial starts, you first choose a control mode. Hunting mode is more complex but gives you more freedom. While rerolling, we recommend Starting mode, which keeps things simple and less tiring.

TipYou can change the control mode at any time later!

Controls

Clear the Combat Tutorial

The first fight against Rathian is a combat tutorial. Instead of forcing your way to a win, follow the on-screen instructions closely and you'll move on smoothly.

Choose the Protagonist's Weapon Type

When you reach the village, you can freely choose the protagonist's weapon type. During the tutorial you'll fight Great Jagras and Kulu-Ya-Ku, so pick a weapon type you're good with or curious about.

Heavy Bowgun Is Recommended for Smoother Rerolls

If you value rerolling efficiency and comfort, we recommend the Heavy Bowgun. Even when Great Jagras is in a turf war and hard to approach, or while Kulu-Ya-Ku is holding a rock, you can whittle down their HP from a distance.

Progress Through the Tutorial

Pull on the tutorial banner and keep going until the tutorial where you add an adventurer to your party. That completes the tutorial.

Claim Items from Your Mail

Once recruitment unlocks, claim the items you need for pulls from your Mailbox.

Get Rutacoin as a Download Reward

Tap the gear icon in the menu and go to the Download Center to receive 200 Rutacoin. That's about one pull's worth, so don't forget to claim it.

Pull on the Banners

Once you've claimed the items, pull from Recruitment. We recommend using Standard Contracts on the starter banner and Featured Contracts on the featured banner.

Gacha Rates & Pity

Spend Rutacoin on Featured Contracts While Rerolling

If you receive Rutacoin from your mail or elsewhere, you can exchange it for contracts. While rerolling, exchange it for Featured Contracts and aim for limited adventurers.

Exchange for Contracts at the Shop and Pull More

Once you've used up your pulls, exchange for more contracts from Recruitment Exchange in the Shop. You can get 5 Standard Contracts and 5 Featured Contracts this way, so use them for extra pulls.

Delete User Data from the Title Screen

If you didn't get what you were after, go back to the title screen from the menu. Then select "Delete User Data" from the title screen menu.

Repeat Until You Get What You Want

Steps to repeat
  1. Progress through the tutorial
  2. Claim items from your mail
  3. Pull on the banners
  4. Exchange for contracts at the Shop and pull more
  5. Select "Delete User Data" from the title screen menu

Repeat the steps above until you get what you want. From the second run on, you can skip the tutorial, which cuts the time needed significantly.

When to Stop Rerolling

Ideal: One SS-Rank and One S-Rank Adventurer

The ideal point to stop is when you've pulled both Midori (SS rank) and Pepper (S rank) from our reroll ranking across the starter and featured banners. You'll be able to build a team around multiple SSR adventurers, which makes the story much more comfortable to play.

One S-Rank or Better Is Enough

Once you pull a limited adventurer or an SSR adventurer that makes the early game easier, it's fine to stop rerolling there. Getting into the game even a day sooner also matters for getting stronger, so don't get too hung up on rerolling.

Beginner Guide

Some SR Adventurers Are Strong Too

We rate SR adventurers as support for the SSR adventurers you pull. Putting an SR adventurer in the same team as a high-ranked SSR adventurer of the same element triggers a Resonance effect, which makes the early game even smoother.

How We Rate Reroll Targets

Strong, Easy-to-Control Attackers Rank High

Our reroll ranking is based on beginners, who tend to be short on adventurers. In particular, we rate strong attackers that are easy to control and make the early game comfortable very highly.

Support Performance from Ultimates Also Counts

You can trigger the ultimates of adventurers other than the one you're controlling, so adventurers with powerful ultimates also rate highly. In particular, adventurers that excel at disrupting monsters with debuffs or suppression are versatile and useful in any situation, which makes them especially valuable.

Madelyn, Raya, and the Protagonist Are Excluded

Our reroll ranking does not include Madelyn, Raya, or the protagonist.
