Visages are items your adventurers equip for set effects and stat boosts. This guide covers how visages work, how to level them up, when and how to start farming for better stats, and the Visage Album level and its rewards. Some details come from the closed beta. Information as of October 29, 2026.

How Visages Work

Visages are endgame character progression

An adventurer's visage screen

Visages give adventurers strong buffs such as set effects that suit them and higher base stats. The extra effects on a visage are partly random, and farming for good ones is a kind of endgame. You pick the Set Effects and Core Effects that suit each adventurer, then level visages up to roll the effects you want. It takes a lot of monster hunting and upgrade materials.

Equipping visages uses Cost

The total Cost of equipped visages (12/12)

Each visage has a Cost, and an adventurer can't equip visages totaling more than 12 Cost. Farming is about getting the most out of that limited Cost.

Set Effects for 2 and 4 pieces

Visages equipped as a 4-piece set

Equipping visages from the same set activates its Set Effects, with an extra bonus at 2 pieces and another at 4. Just matching set effects makes your adventurer stronger, even without farming. Two pieces are enough early on, but the final goal is the 4-piece set that suits each adventurer.

Core Effects need the core slot

The visage in the core slot

A visage's Core Effects only activate when it's equipped in the core slot. Each adventurer needs different Core Effects, so even with the same set, the visage you need in the core slot can differ. Core Effects are fixed for each monster's visage.

Main stat and substats

Where the main stat and substats appear

A visage's effects add up the stats of every visage you equip, including both main stats and substats. The main stat comes with the visage when you get it and grows as you level it up. Substat slots unlock as you level up, and resketching a slot adds an extra effect.

How to Get Visages

A monster with the visage mark on the map

The main way to get visages is hunting monsters in the field. The rarity you get depends on your Visage Album level and ecology level: the higher they are, the easier it is to get high-rarity visages. Monsters that drop visages have a visage mark at the top right of their icon on the map, and you can check their rewards there.

You also get visages for sure from quest rewards and from the first clear of each monster in Free Hunt. The Free Hunt reward is one-time only and has a fixed rarity, so it isn't a steady supply for farming. Daily ecological surveys can also give visage selection boxes, so doing them every day is recommended.

A superior visage selection box

A visage selection box lets you pick a visage of its rarity from the ones you've already obtained. You get them from ecological survey rewards and from the shop, among other places. Besides the visage you choose, you also get three low-Cost visages of the same rarity.

How to Level Up Visages

Leveling up a visage

Like adventurers and Buddies, visages can be leveled up. Leveling raises the visage's stats and, depending on rarity, unlocks the slots that matter for farming.

Level-up materials come from Hunt Requests

The Hunt Request for pigments

The material for leveling visages is pigment, from the Hunt Request for pigments. Each attempt costs energy, and higher difficulties unlock with your ecology level, giving more pigment as you go.

Epic (purple)153
Superior (gold)255

Leveling visages is best saved for after you can get superior ones. Superior visages go up to level 25.

Resketching adds substats

A level 25 superior visage with 5 slots

Superior and epic visages unlock slots as they level up: one slot every 5 levels, for 5 slots on a superior visage. Resketching a slot with a brush adds a random effect. Brushes come in rarities, a superior visage needs a superior brush, and you can resketch a slot to replace an effect that's already there.

When to Start Farming for Better Stats

Start farming once you can get superior visages steadily. Rather than investing in the epic and rare visages you only use as a stopgap, save your resources for farming superior ones. Superior visages start dropping at Adventurer Rank 34 and Visage Album level 14.

At Album level 14, the chance of a superior visage is only 5%, so raise the Album level early, for example with selection boxes. Raise your ecology level too: higher-star monsters drop higher-rarity visages, and harder Hunt Request difficulties that give more upgrade materials unlock.

Keep it minimal early on

If you get stuck early on, you might level up some low-rarity visages, but there are other ways to get past the early game, so keep it to the minimum. Activating set effects and upgrading your gear is enough to tide you over until farming.

How to Pick the Best Visages

These effects are fixed when you get a visage. You can farm for them without leveling the visage, so they're easier than resketching after leveling.

What to farmPriorityDifficultyNotes
Set Effects★★★★★★★★☆☆Activates when you equip several visages of a set. Prepare the 4-piece set that suits the adventurer
Core Effects★★★☆☆★☆☆☆☆Activates in the core slot. Fixed for each monster, so change it to suit how you use the adventurer
Main stat★★★★☆★★★★☆Comes with the visage and grows with its level. Counted together with substats in the visage's effects

Pick Set Effects to match the adventurer. The set effects you want change depending on whether you control the adventurer yourself or bring them along for their Ultimate, so check what each adventurer needs. Core Effects and main stats also depend on the adventurer's Insights, abilities, and role, but Core Effects are fixed for each monster, so they're easy to get.

Substat priority when resketching

Recommended substats include the elemental damage bonus that matches the adventurer's element (such as Fire Damage Bonus), Affinity, and Ultimate Charge Rate to keep support adventurers' Ultimates coming. Prioritize stats that can trigger passive skills.

To save brushes and visage EXP materials, level a visage to 15 and resketch to check its substats first. If it doesn't have what the adventurer needs by then, switch to another visage and keep farming.

Where to get brushes

SourceNotes
Survey questsBrushes are a guaranteed reward, along with visage selection boxes. The number of quests per day is limited
Field huntsAvailable when the monster appears. Rewards depend on your ecology level and more, and you get visages at the same time
Marathon HuntBrushes are a guaranteed reward. The reward chest is once a day
Season rewardsEarned by doing your dailies
ShopThere's a purchase limit

The surveys and the Marathon Hunt give brushes for sure, but field hunts are also good because you get visages at the same time. For pigments, the Hunt Request gives more at higher difficulty, so raising your ecology level makes them faster to collect.

Visage Album Level and Rewards

The Visage Album level affects the rarity of the visages you get. It goes up as you obtain visages you don't have yet, including a higher rarity of a monster you already have. Check it from More at the bottom right of the menu, then the Visage Album.

Album levelRarities you can get
Level 1–7Advanced (green) to rare (blue)
Level 8–13Rare (blue) to epic (purple)
Level 14–25Epic (purple) to superior (gold)
The Visage Album level and the drop rates by rarity

Epic visages appear from level 8 and superior ones from level 14, so raise the Album level to at least 14 before farming.

Rewards for each Album level

Each time the Album level goes up, you get visages and upgrade materials as rewards. Don't forget to claim them after collecting visages and leveling up. Besides these rewards, the main benefit of the Album level is access to higher rarities: higher-rarity visages have stronger stats and can be upgraded further.

How to raise the Album level quickly

  • Defeat monsters whose visage you don't have. Free Hunt gives a visage for sure on the first clear, and you also get extra EXP the first time you get a higher rarity of the same monster.
  • Clear ecological surveys. They can give new visages, including visages of small monsters, and sometimes reward boxes with rare visages.
  • Open visage boxes from your pouch. Some let you pick a high-rarity visage you can't get yet at your current Album level, which helps a lot.
  • Meld unwanted visages. Melding uses 5 visages to make 1 new one of the same rarity, chosen at random. Epic and lower visages eventually go unused, so meld them to fill in missing rarities.
  • Raise your Adventurer Rank in parallel. The Album level also needs a certain Adventurer Rank. Clearing Free Hunt stages gives both adventure EXP and new visages, so clear them all, especially early on.
Each rarity of a monster's visage gives Album EXP

Aim for level 8 first to unlock epic visages, then update the rarities you've collected on the way to level 14. If melding and boxes aren't enough, check the Album for monsters with missing rarities and hunt them in the field.
