Ariados setup build that fully invests in Attack and Speed, gains guaranteed turn with Focus Sash, and lands disruption moves like Sticky Web and Toxic Thread. Its Ability nullifies opponents' sleep moves, so Acts reliably and disrupts the field against opponents that rely on sleep.
Its main role is to set Sticky Web from the lead to make it easier for the backup ace to move first. It also adopts Toxic Thread and First Impression, so Exits while doing more than just setup — also chipping and disrupting the opponent — its role.
Struggles against opponents that don't allow it to act twice
Ariados ideally moves with Toxic Thread → Sticky Web while using Focus Sash as a shield. Like Mega Kangaskhan, Pokémon that can pierce Focus Sash, those with priority moves, or those that ignore stat drops doesn't allow it to do its job sufficiently.
