About
Janitorial Service and Underground Exchange contact
Offers the Butcher Hunting Service
Sawyer introduces the Janitorial Service and the Underground Exchange. He normally introduces the exchange on day 25, but with Sawyer's Crew he can bring it on day 1. The Fence scenario starts with the exchange already unlocked.
Sawyer comes after the Butcher leaves a Meat Cleaver and starts stalking you. Talking to him unlocks the Butcher Hunting Service, a one-time service; if you choose it, the 500 credits are paid at night and the stalking ends.

- SPrepare for this customer
- A seller of goods that are hard to get elsewhere, equipment, a reward or an unlock the specialization's route depends on, a deadline or branch to decide in advance, or a danger of major loss such as game over, arrest or confiscation makes advance preparation worthwhile. A high priority does not mean every purchase or report is recommended.
- AUseful in the right situation
- A main buyer of your goods, a seller of some of your inputs, a side income, optional input, reputation opportunity or conditional risk matters when the matching stock, branch or cash need exists. Check the condition before reserving scarce money or goods.
- BOrdinary response is enough
- The specialization does not normally depend on this customer's goods or outcome. Serve an appropriate incidental trade when the visitor comes without planning the business around it; a low priority does not remove legal or safety consequences.
Events
Quick summary
Days 10 and 25No choices: he unlocks the Janitorial Service and then the Underground Exchange. With Sawyer's Crew, the Underground Exchange is open from day 1.
While The Butcher is stalking you, he offers a night service that ends it for 500 (hearing the offer is free).
Visit 1 (Day 1)
- When
- Day 1: without Skip Intro, with Sawyer's Crew while the Underground Exchange is locked; with Skip Intro, with Sawyer's Crew or the Fence start.
- What happens
- He introduces the Underground Exchange early.
Choices
Continue the conversation; no branching choice
- Unlock the Underground Exchange; it stays unlocked if it already is.
- Receive one Underground Exchange Directive.
- The visitor leaves.
Recommended response
Listen to the introduction; it unlocks the Underground Exchange and gives an Underground Exchange Directive without a payment choice. This early route replaces waiting for the usual introduction, rather than giving an extra reward for choosing a particular reply.
Visit 2 (Day 10)
- When
- Day 10, unless Skip Intro is selected. With Sawyer's Crew this visit does not come.
- What happens
- He offers the Janitorial Service.
Choices
Continue the conversation; no branching choice
- Unlock the Janitorial Service.
- The visitor leaves.
Recommended response
This conversation unlocks the Janitorial Service with no branching reply. Decide separately whether to use the service; hearing the introduction is not an automatic paid subscription.
Notes
- Sawyer's Crew makes the Janitorial Service available without this visit and makes normal cleaning free; cleaning after vandalism has a separate price.
Visit 3 (Day 25)
- When
- Day 25, if the Underground Exchange is still locked.
- What happens
- He grants access to the Underground Exchange.
Choices
Continue the conversation; no branching choice
- Unlock the Underground Exchange.
- Receive one Underground Exchange Directive.
- The visitor leaves.
Recommended response
Finish the explanation to unlock the Underground Exchange and receive an Underground Exchange Directive. No trade happens in this conversation, so read the exchange requirements before discarding goods for it.
Visit 4
- When
- From 1 day after the Meat Cleaver is left (normally 11 days after the Butcher's capture), while he is still stalking you, if you have not heard this offer yet. Hearing it costs nothing; the service itself costs 500 credits.
- What happens
- He explains a paid way to remove the threat. This conversation has no payment choice.
Choices
Hear the offer; there is no dialogue choice
- After this, you can choose the Butcher Hunting Service: 500 credits are paid at night and the stalking ends. If you do not choose it, you pay nothing and the stalking continues.
Recommended response
Hearing the offer is free and does not end the stalking. Afterwards you may select the night service for 500, or keep that cash and carry a firearm or PulseGuard Stun Gun in your backpack when going out; only paying for the service ends the stalking.
Notes
- Reputation numbers are before perk and difficulty adjustments (see the reputation rules).
