Insurance Service and network guide

Joe Wild introduces the Insurance Service on day 4 and his Favor-funded network on day 7, unless Skip Intro is selected. On Price Gouge and Mark Up he also makes reminder visits and gives a one-time rescue of 250 Favor after a long loss of wealth. He also visits after the shop is fully owned.

SPrepare for this customer
A seller of goods that are hard to get elsewhere, equipment, a reward or an unlock the specialization's route depends on, a deadline or branch to decide in advance, or a danger of major loss such as game over, arrest or confiscation makes advance preparation worthwhile. A high priority does not mean every purchase or report is recommended.
AUseful in the right situation
A main buyer of your goods, a seller of some of your inputs, a side income, optional input, reputation opportunity or conditional risk matters when the matching stock, branch or cash need exists. Check the condition before reserving scarce money or goods.
BOrdinary response is enough
The specialization does not normally depend on this customer's goods or outcome. Serve an appropriate incidental trade when the visitor comes without planning the business around it; a low priority does not remove legal or safety consequences.

Events

Quick summary

  • Day 7No choices: he opens the network and gives your first Favor (300 on Price Gouge, 200 on Mark Up, 100 on Thin Margins, 0 on Red Ink).

  • On Price Gouge and Mark Up, if your wealth keeps falling, he gives you 250 Favor once (not cash).

Visit 1 (Day 4)

When
Day 4, unless Skip Intro is selected.
What happens
He introduces the optional Insurance Service.

Choices

Continue the conversation; no branching choice

  • Unlock the Insurance Service; this conversation does not sign you up.
  • The visitor leaves.

Recommended response

This opens access to the optional insurance service without signing you up. There is no branching dialogue reward; compare insurance with your risks and nightly costs in the service settings afterwards.

Notes

  • The Insurance Service is unavailable while Cartel Protection is active or once you have Uninsurable (Black Market reputation -60).

Visit 2 (Day 7)

When
Day 7, unless Skip Intro is selected.
What happens
He opens the network and gives your first Favor.

Choices

Continue the conversation; no branching choice

  • Gain your first Favor: 300 on Price Gouge, 200 on Mark Up, 100 on Thin Margins and 0 on Red Ink; a custom difficulty uses its own amount.
  • Unlock the network.
  • The network screen opens and a tutorial on browsing upgrades starts.

Recommended response

Finish the introduction to open the network and receive Favor: 300, 200, 100 or 0 on Price Gouge, Mark Up, Thin Margins or Red Ink, respectively. There is no upgrade purchase forced by the conversation, so spend the resource on your next useful step.

Visit 3

When
On Price Gouge or Mark Up, when your wealth over the last 8 days has fallen overall, with no more than 2 days on which it did not fall; earliest day 8.
What happens
He gives a one-time Favor rescue when your wealth keeps falling.

Choices

Continue the conversation; no branching choice

  • Gain 250 Favor; no cash is given.
  • The network screen opens after you receive the Favor.

Recommended response

This is a one-time gift of 250 Favor, not 250 cash, and no reply improves it. Use the network to address the business problem; this conversation cannot directly pay a rent bill.

Visit 4

When
On Price Gouge or Mark Up, at least 5 days after the day-7 network introduction (earliest day 12), if you have never phoned Wild.
What happens
He reminds the player to contact the network by phone.

Choices

Continue the conversation; no branching choice

  • Receive one Business Card (Joe Wild) if there is none in the store, including ones you do not own.
  • The visitor leaves.

Recommended response

The reminder has no reward choice. It supplies a Business Card (Joe Wild) only if none is left anywhere in the shop, including unowned copies; no upgrade is bought for you.

Visit 5

When
On Price Gouge or Mark Up, after 6 openings without browsing network upgrades, counted from day 5 once the network is open. Earliest day 10 with Skip Intro, normally day 13.
What happens
He reminds you to browse network upgrades.

Choices

Finish the reminder and browse upgrades

  • Open the network screen; no upgrade is bought automatically.

Dismiss the reminder

  • Leave without opening the upgrade screen.

Recommended response

Browsing opens the network screen, while dismissing only skips opening it. Neither answer buys an upgrade or changes your cash or Favor, so the answer has no economic advantage by itself.

Visit 6

When
Right after the shop becomes fully yours, by buying it outright or making the final mortgage payment; Wild is the next visitor.
What happens
He visits the new owner and gives a Business Card (Joe Wild) if none is left.

Choices

Continue the conversation; no branching choice

  • Receive one Business Card (Joe Wild) if there is none in the store, including ones you do not own.
  • The visitor leaves.

Recommended response

This is a follow-up to becoming the owner, not another payment or a forced end to play. You receive a Business Card (Joe Wild) only if no copy remains in the shop, and can continue your business.
