About

Seller of stolen valuables

Stolen evidence seller

Sells you stolen valuables and equipment; he does not steal from your shop. He visits on day 13 unless Skip Intro is selected, and weekly with Safe Hands (Black Market reputation 40). Buying is optional, but stolen goods and contraband can be confiscated later if found.

Comes during the Evidence Locker Break-In! event with a stolen Security Department Evidence Locker, not as a random normal customer.

SPrepare for this customer
A seller of goods that are hard to get elsewhere, equipment, a reward or an unlock the specialization's route depends on, a deadline or branch to decide in advance, or a danger of major loss such as game over, arrest or confiscation makes advance preparation worthwhile. A high priority does not mean every purchase or report is recommended.
AUseful in the right situation
A main buyer of your goods, a seller of some of your inputs, a side income, optional input, reputation opportunity or conditional risk matters when the matching stock, branch or cash need exists. Check the condition before reserving scarce money or goods.
BOrdinary response is enough
The specialization does not normally depend on this customer's goods or outcome. Serve an appropriate incidental trade when the visitor comes without planning the business around it; a low priority does not remove legal or safety consequences.

Events

Quick summary

  • Day 7He sells a stolen Security Department Evidence Locker

→if you buy it, an inspection can confiscate it.

  • Buying from him raises Black Market reputation. Reporting him once his stolen goods or contraband are revealed pays a reward and Security reputation, but costs Black Market reputation.

Visit 1 (Day 7)

When
On day 7. Skip Intro is not selected. The Evidence Locker Break-In! event is on.
What happens
A thief sells a stolen Security Department Evidence Locker.

Choices

Complete a trade

  • Buy or sell the goods listed for this visit, within the visitor's budget. What you pay or receive depends on the deal you agree on.

Let the visitor leave without a deal

  • This visit ends without a purchase. Later visits follow their own conditions.

Report the visitor to Security

  • What happens depends on the items that are not yours when you report: if any is stolen or serious contraband, it is a valid report; otherwise you get the penalty for a wrongful report.

Recommended response

The offered Security Department Evidence Locker is stolen, so buying transfers an inspection risk as well as the crate's possible use. Reporting while the stolen goods still belong to the visitor can be valid; after buying everything, do not assume the same report remains valid. Leaving forgoes the purchase without awarding a crate.

Visit 2

When
On day 13 unless Skip Intro is selected. With Safe Hands (Black Market reputation 40), also on every day that leaves 1 when divided by 7 (1, 8, 15 and so on). He can also come as a random Black Market customer: when a random customer is drawn, the Black Market group is picked occasionally, more often the higher your Black Market reputation (rarely when it is low).
What happens
He lays out his goods. Buy what you want, send him away, or report him if his stolen goods or contraband have been revealed.

Choices

Buy selected offered goods.

Needs

  • He offers the item and you can pay for it.
  • Only the goods he actually brings are for sale; each item depends on its own random roll. Goods become yours only once you pay.
  • Pay the negotiated price of each item you buy.
  • Gain Black Market reputation based on the trade value, adjusted for stolen goods (by Heat) and contraband (by level).

Decline the goods and dismiss the seller.

  • You pay nothing and the run does not end; anything that happened when he showed his goods still stands.

Report exposed stolen or contraband goods.

Needs

  • Reporting is unlocked and his serious contraband or stolen goods have been revealed. A wrong report has its own penalty.
  • A correct report pays a reward based on his goods and raises your Security reputation by the highest contraband level among them (both × 0.75 with Convict, × 1.5 with Model Citizen). It also lowers your Black Market reputation (by 8 for the first report, 2 more for each later one, up to 20, before adjustments) and leaves an Incident Slip.

Recommended response

Buy only useful or quickly saleable goods after checking their real condition and legal status; a cheap stolen item can still be confiscated later. Dismissing spends nothing, while reporting requires revealed stolen goods or serious contraband and trades a reward and Security reputation for a loss of Black Market reputation. A counterfeit label alone is not proof that a stolen-goods report is valid.

Notes

  • These visitors sell to you. They never steal from your shop and never end the run.
