About

Business Permit official

Visits every 7 days from day 38 until you buy a Business Permit. On the first visit you can ask for more time for free; on later visits you buy the permit, hand over goods as a bribe, or refuse and are charged with Operating Without a License. Buying the permit stops the visits; refusing does not end the run by itself.

SPrepare for this customer
A seller of goods that are hard to get elsewhere, equipment, a reward or an unlock the specialization's route depends on, a deadline or branch to decide in advance, or a danger of major loss such as game over, arrest or confiscation makes advance preparation worthwhile. A high priority does not mean every purchase or report is recommended.
AUseful in the right situation
A main buyer of your goods, a seller of some of your inputs, a side income, optional input, reputation opportunity or conditional risk matters when the matching stock, branch or cash need exists. Check the condition before reserving scarce money or goods.
BOrdinary response is enough
The specialization does not normally depend on this customer's goods or outcome. Serve an appropriate incidental trade when the visitor comes without planning the business around it; a low priority does not remove legal or safety consequences.

Events

Quick summary

  • Day 38You can put him off for free.

  • Every 7 days from day 45Buy the Business Permit, bribe him with goods (85 on day 45, more each visit) or refuse (recorded as a crime).

  • The permit costs 500 on Price Gouge, 1500 on Mark Up, 2000 on Thin Margins and 3000 on Red Ink. Bribes stay cheaper in total for a long time, longer on harder difficulties

→buy the permit for a long run.

  • Buying the permit stops his visits, but Lou starts coming.

Visit 1

When
On days 38, 45, 52 and every 7 days after that, while you have no Business Permit. From day 45, the bribe he wants grows before each visit, by more as the days pass; on day 45 it grows by 85.
What happens
On his first visit you can buy the permit or ask for more time for free. On later visits you can buy it, hand over enough goods as a bribe, or refuse and be charged with a crime.

Choices

Buy the Business Permit.

Needs

  • Your cash covers the price when he makes the offer.
  • Pay the Business Permit price for your difficulty.
  • You now have a Business Permit, and the official stops coming.
  • Receive the Business Permit item.
  • Lou can start visiting from the next day; the actual day depends on the conditions of later mornings.

Ask for more time on the first visit.

Needs

  • This is his first visit.
  • You pay nothing now; from his next visit, 7 days later, he asks for a bribe.

Hand over goods until the bribe demand is covered.

Needs

  • This is not his first visit. He accepts goods of any type.
  • Goods you hand over carry the "Donation" price (market price −999%). Each item's negotiated value without that cut is taken off the bribe he still wants.
  • If you give more than he wants, the excess is taken off his next demand.
  • Once he has received enough, he leaves; you still have no permit.
  • He returns 7 days later with a higher demand.

Refuse the permit and the bribe on later visits.

Needs

  • This is not his first visit.
  • You are charged with Operating Without a License, a crime worth more as the days pass. It can later lead to sentencing by Security; the run does not end here.
  • He returns 7 days later.

Recommended response

Use the free delay on the first visit if immediate purchase of the Business Permit would disrupt the business. Later, buying the permit stops these visits, handing over enough goods satisfies only that visit's growing bribe demand, and refusing adds a crime instead of immediately ending play. Permit prices are 500, 1500, 2000 and 3000 on Price Gouge, Mark Up, Thin Margins and Red Ink; compare your actual stock and expected run length rather than a universal bribe rule. From day 45 each visit adds to the demand, and more as the days pass; excess goods credit the next demand, and buying the permit also enables Lou to appear.

Notes

  • The bribe he wants grows before each visit and is never below 10. Anything unpaid carries over: it is not a new fixed fee each time.
  • You cannot shoot the official. Appraisal can change the value of an item you hand over, and he sees through an item's hidden condition.
