High bulk and its ability Thick Fatresistances are leveraged, as it grinds with Leech Seed and Synthesis as a physical wall. It drains HP while landing Sludge Bombattacks from high Sp.Atk to pressure.
Giga Drain hits Water/Ground well
To finish Water/Ground types faster, Giga Drainis also an option. Depending on the opponent, Leech Seedits recovery efficiency exceeds the alternative.
Switched in vs. physical attackers, a pivot/wall using recovery to tank attacks. Bulk-focused yet attacker-tier stats let it function as a finisher making opponents hard to break.
Weak to high-power weakness-hitters
Being physical-wall focused, high-power special weakness hits make things tough. Pick the right time to send it out, or cover with teammates.
Example Threats
Corviknight which wall-types it is also a threat
Steel/Flying Corviknight resists all Mega Venusaur's moves and cannot be KO'd.Leech SeedEven setting up U-turnis removed by it, so counter with other Pokémon.
Example Threats
Sun Ace

Sun ace Venusaur leveraging Chlorophyll's 2x Speed in sun. Miracle Seed reinforces firepower; Synthesis/Giga Drain maintain high HP while winning trades.
Sludge Bomb to raise Poison rate is viable
Swapping Sludge Wave to Sludge Bomb raises Poison rate 10%→30%. However, slight power drop — note required.
Deployed with ally weather support, Boosted Speed + broad coverage break opponent teamAce role. Earth Power covers Grass/Poison-resisters for broad pressure.
Fast Scarf users and non-sun weather setters
Pokémon faster than Venusaur with Choice Scarf can KO before it acts. Also, Chlorophyll doesn't activate outside sun — threat. Switch out vs threats.

Invests heavily in HP and Sp. Atk, Bulky special attacker build combining high bulk and damage Mega Venusaur. With the post-Mega Evolution Ability Thick Fat reduces weaknesses, deflecting opposing attacks while pressuring with high-power special moves.
Giga Drain is also recommended
Energy Ball instead, Giga Drain is also recommended. Since Giga Drain heals HP, it pairs well with bulky Mega Venusaur.
Leverages high bulk to stay on the field, Energy Ball or Sludge Bomb chips opponents as the special attacker role. Focused attacks against itself are Protect blocks, and Leech Seed with Deals fixed damage while recovering its own HP to fight tenaciously — viable playstyle.
Struggles against Flying and Psychic moves, and Steel-types
Psychic-type and Flying-type moves are weaknesses, and the Ability Thick Fat can't halve them, making them unfavorable. Also, Steel-types resist both Grass and Poison moves at half.Protect blocks opponents' moves while countering with allies' moves.
Example Threats
Doubles Chlorophyll Sleep Powder
Chlorophyll Speed in Sun + Sleep Powder.

In doubles, sun doubles its Speed, a special attacker that combines sleep and high-power moves from above. With Focus Sash and Protect, it keeps acting even when weather is stolen or it's focused.
Leaf Storm interchangeable with other Grass moves
Venusaur's Leaf Storm is interchangeable with Solar Beam or Energy Ball. Consider when Leaf Storm's Sp.Atk drop or accuracy worry it.
Sludge Bomb interchangeable with Fire/Steel-coverage moves
Venusaur's Sludge Bomb is interchangeable with moves hitting Fire/Steel weaknesses. Earth Power or Weather Ball (becomes a 100-power Fire move in sun) are recommended.
Pair it with a weather setter and a control role that puts threats to sleep at high Speed or pressures with high-power Grass/Poison. Protect blocks attacks while allies shape the board — doubles-specific flexibility.
Weak to Pokémon changing weather away from sun
Venusaur struggles vs. Pokémon changing weather. Chlorophyll stops triggering, and weakness moves Hurricane/Blizzard hit reliably.
