How to Use an Aniipod
The catching system and Aniipods unlock after completing the early Sub Quest "An Idyllic Trip."
Once unlocked, press Right-Click to enter or exit Catch Mode. While in Catch Mode, aim your crosshair at the target and click to throw an Aniipod and attempt a catch.
Aniipod Types
There are several Aniipod types, each with its own catch bonus and ways to get it:

 Tumbler | An extremely rare Aniipod you roll along the ground; it automatically catches any Aniimo it passes at 2x the normal catch rate, or 6x the rate on an Aniimo drawn in through Nurture. Sources include Elite Training, the Credit Shop, the Nurture Branch, Super Claw, Holo-Battle Interlink, and Quests. |
 Aniipod Mega | An advanced Aniipod with a 2x catch chance. Sources include Elite Training, the Credit Shop, Upgrade Level rewards, Quests, Super Claw, Home Production, Courses, and chests. |
 Aniipod Hyper | An advanced Aniipod with increased toss speed and a 2x catch chance. Sources include the Companion Handbook and Super Claw. |

 Aniipod Ultra | A rare Aniipod that guarantees a successful catch, with the caught Aniimo's Potential rated at least Elite. Sources include Elite Training, Glimmer purchases, the shop, and Item Exchange. |
Sparkling Cube | An extremely rare Aniipod that guarantees a successful catch with Perfect Potential and a Sparkling (Shiny) result every time. Using it on a Perfect Aniimo also raises the odds that its Innate Potential for recommended stats exceeds 8. Sources include Elite Training, the Stamp Rush Shop, the Companion Handbook, the shop, and Item Exchange. |
What Affects Your Catch Rate
A few different factors affect your catch rate: the Aniimo's HP, its level relative to yours, whether it senses you, and which Aniipod you're using. There may be other undiscovered factors too.
Once a Pathfinder gets close, an Aniimo senses them and enters an alerted status, shown as an alert value above its head. After a failed catch attempt, or once that alert value fills up, the Aniimo may run away or attack.
Catching an Aniimo from behind before it notices you, a Backstab, gives you a 1.5x boost to your catch rate.
Being underleveled compared to the Aniimo lowers your catch rate, by as much as 0.4x if the gap is large enough, making it much harder to catch Aniimo that significantly outlevel you.
Lowering an Aniimo's HP unlocks a feature called Quick Catch, which increases your odds of catching it.
Where to Buy Aniipods
Astra is home to Super Claw, an Aniipod store that sells Aniipods of different grades.
According to the play notes, Super Claw also carries Tumblers, Aniipod Track, and Aniipod Hyper on a weekly rotating stock; this hasn't been confirmed on screen yet, so treat it as unconfirmed for now.
How to Unlock More Aniipods
Buying higher-grade Aniipods from vendors requires unlocking the matching Passive Talent. Getting the Master Catcher talent lets you buy Aniipod Mega, Aniipod Hyper, Aniipod Track, and Tumbler from shops.
