Flowers and Butterfly Shadows is Aniimo's third main questline, gating you behind the Student II promotion assessment before unlocking the Star-Up system and sending you to fight Velouria. Here's a full walkthrough of every step.
Fragrant Colors: The Student II Gate
This sub-quest rewards Safaris x1,200, Irisalis Petal x1, Growth Fruit x10, Credits x40,000, Aniimo EXP x4,800, and Aniipod Pro x20.

Main Story progression is temporarily locked until you meet all 3 gating requirements: completing the required quests in Elite Training Chapter 1, reaching character level 25, and advancing to Student II.
You only need to complete 4 of Elite Training Chapter 1's 5 tasks: go to the Bloom Festival, activate the Bloom in Forest of Falling Stars, catch 1 Eko and 1 Pomegg in Forest of Falling Stars, level 2 Aniimo up to level 25, and catch and report 30 Aniimo in total.

The same Elite Training screen shows the Student II promotion's reward: a Level Cap Up for your Aniimo, alongside the 4 required quests and reaching character level 25.
The Promotion Assessment: Dewdrop Crystal's Resonance
Once you complete 4 of the Elite Training tasks and reach level 25, Dr. Lewis calls to trigger the Growth Story promotion quest, Dewdrop Crystal's Resonance.
This quest rewards unlocking Character Skills (Gravity Skill, Mega Mallet, Boss Breaker), a World Aniimo Level Up, and 4 Report Cards.

This quest is explicitly framed in-game as a title promotion assessment: completing it makes you a Grade II Student.
The flow is: answer Dr. Lewis's call, find Senior Wally at the Sea of Flowers, look around for clues with Observe, speak with Wally again, contact Dr. Lewis, tell Wally what you found, then challenge Wally to the assessment.
For the Observe puzzle, click both initial clues ("That Flutternym just now was so vibrant!" and "The flowers seem to be blooming more brightly here.") to reveal a new clue, then click that new clue to finish.

The assessment battle against Wally recommends level 25 Lightning, Fire, and Light Aniimo, has a 5:00 time limit, and its victory condition is defeating all of the opponent's Aniimo. Wally's team is Twirly Lv. 25 (Grass), Leafy Lv. 25 (Grass/Water), and Gracewing Lv. 25 (Wind).

Winning the assessment unlocks Lunara's "Moon-Washed" REGEN skill tutorial (EP recovery).
Return to the Outpost to answer Dr. Lewis's Theory Test.
| Question | Answer |

Incorrect answers let you retry immediately.
Completing the Theory Test and the Resonance System / Star-Up tutorial with Dr. Lewis officially promotes you to Student II and resumes the Main Story.

The Student II promotion screen lists an Aniimo Level Cap Up and 4 more Report Cards among its New Title Rewards.
In the Star-Up tutorial's example, using Star-Up on a "Perfect"-rated Lunara (DPS role, CP 761) grants +10 ATK and +5 BREAK for a cost of a dedicated resource.

Finishing Fragrant Colors
Back at the Sea of Flowers with Sunia and Nicole, you'll pick up three tasks: catching a Flutternym near a broken windmill, Twining with an Iris and using "Lead the dance" at the center of the Iris circle to get a Lumin Amber, and attacking the Irisal to trigger "Wake Irisal through battle," then choosing "Get straight to the point."
After speaking with Sunia to prepare the fragrance, approaching the sealed cave entrance at Lumenfly Valley concludes Fragrant Colors.
The Land of Dancing Illusions
This sub-quest rewards Safaris x1,200, Irisalis Petal x1, Growth Fruit x10, Credits x40,000, Aniimo EXP x5,600, and Aniipod Mega x10.

Lighting the incense Sunia placed opens the barrier into Lumenfly Valley.
Inside the cave, you need to Twine with a Flutternym and follow the butterfly shadow. Switching to any Aniimo other than Flutternym automatically resets you back to the entrance, with the warning "Lose the guidance of the Flutternym family and you may be lost in illusions..."
Following the quest marker triggers a cutscene with Velouria and completes The Land of Dancing Illusions.
The Land where Dreams Come True: Defeating Velouria
This sub-quest rewards Safaris x1,200, Irisalis Petal x2, Growth Fruit x10, Credits x40,000, Aniimo EXP x8,000, and Aniipod Mega x10.

The path toward Somniwing's throne repeats a pattern: interact with a dream blossom to trigger Irelia/Velouria illusions and spawn 3 Butterfly Shadows, touch all of them to open the next path, then follow the Flutternym shadows to the next blossom. This loop repeats several times, revealing more illusions along the way.
After following the light path forward and activating the Bloom, flying up toward the marker triggers the boss cutscene.
The boss is Velouria, Lv. 30 (Wind, Grass).
When Velouria's HP drops below half, she charges a storm. The game warns "The edge of the hurricane is extremely dangerous. Head to the eye of the storm now!" and explains the storm is filled with sleep-inducing scales, so get to the safe zone in the eye of the storm (the circle directly beneath Velouria).

The battle ends automatically once Velouria's HP is nearly depleted, cutting to a scene that sends you outside the entrance and completes both The Land where Dreams Come True and the Flowers and Butterfly Shadows main questline.
Finishing the Questline
Completing Flowers and Butterfly Shadows unlocks Student II Rank Promotion, the Dewdrop Crystal / Resonance System (Star-Up), and the new Character Skills: Gravity, Mega Mallet, and Boss Breaker.
