Character Creation and Your Nickname

Early in Journey to Idyll, you'll create your character: pick a gender, then customize their look.

After the introductory cutscene, you'll set a nickname. If it's already taken, you'll see a "Nickname already exists" prompt asking you to pick something else.

Catch Your First Emberpup

  1. Record the Emberpup

    Press F to activate your camera and record a video of the Emberpup.

  2. Enter Catch Mode and throw your Aniipod

    Right-click to enter Catch Mode, then aim the crosshair at the Emberpup and left-click to throw your Aniipod and attempt the catch.

  3. Clear the vines blocking the path

    Left-click to command your Emberpup to burn the vines blocking the path. A short cutscene plays once the vines are cleared, ending the sub-quest.

Completing this sub-quest unlocks the Catching System and Aniipod mechanics.

Aniimo Catching Journey

This sub-quest rewards Growth Flower x5, Credits x5,000, Aniimo EXP x1,234, and Aniipod x10.

Your catching targets are Hummin, Skippy, and Celestis.

Hummin is said to be along the main path (a creature with a leaf on its head), Skippy near the water (a blue creature with a lotus leaf on its head), and Celestis further ahead past Hummin (a blue squirrel-like creature).

If…Then…
You talk to Nicole and choose "I'll keep exploring."You can freely explore and catch Aniimo in the open world in this area.
You talk to Nicole and choose "Get some rest."The main story advances.

When you catch up to BINI #9, a cutscene plays where you, Nicole, and BINI get absorbed by a mysterious cube, and the quest completion screen appears right after.

The Mysterious Cavern

This sub-quest rewards Growth Flower x5, Credits x10,000, Aniimo EXP x1,771, and Aniipod x10.

Partway through the cavern, you'll make a permanent choice between two starter Light Aniimo.

  1. Defeat the Summoned Helgon

    Use your chosen Aniimo's attacks, Skills, and Ultimate to defeat the Summoned Helgon.

  2. Twine with your Aniimo

    After the fight, you're told to "Twine with your Aniimo to fight as one."

  3. Defeat the Summoned Infergon

    Twining leads into a fight against the Summoned Infergon.

Defeating Infergon leads into a cutscene that transitions you to the Polaris Institute.

Institute Initiation

This sub-quest rewards Safaris x300, Growth Flower x5, Credits x10,000, Aniimo EXP x1,440, and Aniipod x10.

  1. Tour the Institute and enroll

    Follow Nicole on a tour of the Institute, then speak with Nai-li and choose "I wanted to ask about enrolling..." to officially enroll.

  2. Cross the bridge to Dr. Lewis

    Cross the bridge to speak with Dr. Lewis. Oswen awards your first Badge, which triggers the Badge System tutorial.

  3. Teleport to the Outpost

    Interact with the transportation device and select "Teleport to Idyll" to arrive at the Outpost.

  4. Report your catches at the Research Console

    Access the Research Console to submit your research report to Dr. Lewis.

Before crossing the bridge, you can optionally speak with Bohr near the Holographic Discovery Booth, to the right of the front desk.
