Things You Can't Undo

These are the parts of Monster Hunter Outlanders you can't redo or get back. Buddy Chests and limited-time events in particular are worth getting right, since you'll be playing on the same account for a long time.

Limited-Time Event Rewards

Some events are limited-time, and once the period ends you can no longer claim their rewards. Limited-time events can have generous rewards, so check what's running and claim everything before it ends.

Raising the Ecology Level

Raising the ecology level brings benefits such as harder Hunt Requests and Ascension for your adventurers. However, it also makes field monsters tougher, and once you raise it, there's no way to lower it.

Tip Raise the ecology level when every adventurer in your party is ready for Ascension and can be leveled all the way to the cap.

Adventurer Rank and Proof of Mastery

Your Adventurer Rank and Proof of Mastery can't be reset either, but there's no benefit to holding them back. They're tied to early-game progress and quest objectives, so raise them as fast as you can.

Map Exploration

While exploring the map, content that gives rewards like Rutacoin can only be collected once. Decide in advance whether you want to collect those rewards now or later. Unlocking and leveling up watchtowers is one-time too: once a watchtower is unlocked or leveled up, you can't undo it or do it again.

Items That Are Hard to Get Again

Most materials and items in Monster Hunter Outlanders can be restocked one way or another, but some are hard to get again. The Buddy Chest is one of them, so think carefully before you choose.

Buddy Chest

Completed Quests

Once you complete a quest, you can't take it on again. Its story and rewards are one-time only, but in practice this has almost no effect on your progress.

Points Spent on Research

Once you spend points on Research, you can't get them back. While you still have few points, think about which Research to put them into.

Things You Can Change Later

Even though some things are missable, most of the game can be changed or gotten again through in-game systems. These are the main things you can change later.

Main Character's Name

You can change your main character's name later. It costs Rutacoin, though, and after a change you can't change it again for a while.

Main Character Creation

You can redo the main character creation from the start of the game with an appearance ticket from the item exchange in the shop. The ticket costs Rutacoin, though, and each ticket lets you redo character creation only once.

Where You Place Field Facilities

Field facilities such as the Catapult and Wind Platform can be placed wherever you like. You can retrieve them after placing them, so you can move them to more convenient spots.

Tip If you try to place a facility when you've hit the cap, the game asks whether you want to retrieve one you've already placed.

There's a Cap on How Many You Can Place

There's a cap on how many field facilities you can place. Raising watchtower levels increases it, and once you've hit the cap, being able to retrieve and re-place facilities comes in handy.

Your Guild

Joining a guild gives you various benefits. You can leave, but after leaving you'll have to wait a while before you can join again.

Insights Can Be Rearranged Freely

Pulling the same adventurer multiple times from recruitment unlocks more Insights, which means more buffs you can set. What you can set is limited by how many Insights you've earned, but you can rearrange them freely.

Tip Insights grow the more copies you pull, but there's a cap on how many you can set.
