Here's how Radiant monsters work in Monster Hunter Outlanders: what Radiant Rage is, how they differ from normal monsters, where each one appears, how to end the rage, and what they drop.
What Are Radiant Monsters?
They Go Into a Special Rage

Radiant monsters go into a special rage, Radiant Rage, which changes some of their attack patterns. Their body changes color and they roar when it starts, so it's easy to tell.
Radiantite shows up in Radiant hunts too. For example, a Radiant Anjanath digs up Radiantite after it goes into Radiant Rage, and you can shatter it.
How Radiant Monsters Differ From Normal Ones
Radiant monsters can't be captured at all, not even in field hunts, so don't waste capture items on them. Large Radiant monsters drop only their own Radiant materials, and the weapons and armor made from those are Radiant-exclusive, with different skills and stats from the normal versions.
| Normal monsters | Radiant monsters | |

| Capture | Possible (large monsters) | Not possible (including field hunts) |

How to Deal With Radiant Rage
Break the Radiant Weak Part

You can end Radiant Rage by breaking the monster's Radiant weak part. A successful break also knocks the monster down, so go for it whenever you can.
Use Lock-On

Lock-on makes the weak part much easier to hit. The part changes color during the rage, so it's easy to spot.
The Radiant Part Grows Back

After a while, a Radiant monster goes back into Radiant Rage, and the Radiant part grows back so you can break it again. You can break the Radiant part even if it overlaps a part you've already broken.
Stop the Monster From Moving
Stopping a raging Radiant monster from moving makes its Radiant part easier to hit and cuts the damage you take.
- Endemic Life: use the creatures in the field to interrupt the monster. They only work when the monster does a certain move or faces a certain way.
- Ultimates: some adventurers' Ultimates stop the monster. Raya's Ultimate, Berserker Dance, traps the monster in a pitfall, which makes it a great pick.
- Buddies: among Buddies, Rutaco Buddies have many skills that stop monsters, such as Rutaco's Shackling Turret, which paralyzes them. Bring one when you're taking a lot of hits, not just against Radiant monsters.

Rewards: Radiant Materials and Gear
Radiant-Only Materials

Large Radiant monsters drop only their own Radiant materials. Each monster page lists exactly what it drops.
Radiant-Exclusive Gear

The gear you craft from Radiant materials is Radiant-exclusive weapons and armor. Their skills and stats differ from the normal versions, which gives you more build options. Check the weapon and armor lists for each one.
