Adapt per team
Sash Gengar has high Sp.Atk/Speed and strong face-off performance. Hex after sleep-inducing, Icy Wind against faster foes, any move is strong — pick per team — recommended.
From lead or revenge slot, broad coverage chips opponents as a face-off attacker. From high Speed, the attack-or-Destiny-Bond mind game forces processing of opposing aces/walls to disrupt the field — its role.
Weak to Pokémon piercing Sash
It struggles vs. Pokémon piercing Sash. Hippowdon and Tyranitar with Sand Stream then Earthquake KO it; Dragapult's Dragon Darts also KO. Be cautious.

Sludge Bomb for added effect chance

Swap one sub-weapon slot Focus Blast from Icy Wind can hit Garchomp etc. on 4× weakness. Also Protect Destiny Bond — swapping eases handling of Sucker Punch.
The ability Shadow Tag traps favorable foes for KOs, pressing the opposing team is its role. High Speed STAB and rich sub-weapons trade with many foes, plus Protect safely mega-evolves, maximizing ability Shadow Tag.
Attackers that outspeed and hit weaknesses
Mega Gengar lacks bulk — faster attackers hitting weaknesses risk OHKO. This build only has attacks, so even when faster, priority Sucker Punch locks it down — beware.

Item secures actions; Speed-lowering or order-reversing moves support team in doubles. Speed above key tier, create ally-friendly board — specialty.
Pokémon breaking Sash
Focus Sash is key for this Gengar, so Sandstorm chip or Scrappy Fake Out + Sucker Punch breaking Sash makes fighting hard. Also, DefiantDefiant users get Attack boost from Icy Wind — be careful.
