This guide ranks the paid purchases in Monster Hunter Outlanders by value: the monthly pass, the Rumbling Pot (the paid battle pass), one-time packs, top-ups, limited-time and recurring packs, and Wishes. If you buy only one thing, buy the monthly pass. Limited-time packs are as of November 2, 2026.

F2P Guide

Monthly Pass (Subscription)

Monthly pass in the shop, with Keres, Pyro, and Arkaya and the pass contents

The monthly pass gives Crimson Crest Coin ×300 and Standard Contract ×5 when you buy it, then Rutacoin ×100 as a login bonus every day for 30 days. You have to log in each day to collect it, but if you do, that's 3000 Rutacoin in total, which makes it the best-value purchase in the game.

It also turns your name gold for 30 days and gives a limited stamp each month.

First Purchase: Pick an SSR Adventurer

The first time you buy the monthly pass, you get one of Keres, Pyro, and Arkaya. Pick Arkaya or Keres: Pyro is free from the event Adventurer's Chronicles, and the other two widen the range of monsters you can handle.

AdventurerRatingWhy
ArkayaA durable SSR Lance user who works as support in any team.
KeresAn SSR Dual Blades user built around dragon element. Less flexible, but strong as the character you control.
PyroAn SSR Great Sword user suited to playing yourself. Free from the event Adventurer's Chronicles, so low priority.

Event List: Rewards and Dates

Battle Pass: Rumbling Furnace and Rumbling Pot

Rumbling Furnace rewards for levels 55 to 60, with Kojiro as the level 60 reward

The Rumbling Furnace is the game's battle pass (season pass). Complete its quests to earn heat, and every 1000 heat raises its level by 1 and unlocks rewards. In the first season, reaching level 60 on the free track gives the SSR Buddy Kojiro, Midori's motif Buddy.

You can get every free-track reward without paying by leveling up. If one Kojiro is all you want, you don't need to pay.

Trade Rumbling Gear for an SSR Buddy

Rumbling Furnace exchange, with SSR Buddies for 120 Rumbling Gear each and contracts for 10

The free track also gives Rumbling Gear. Trade 120 of them for any SSR Buddy in the exchange. You can get up to 60 per season, so that's one SSR Buddy every two seasons. Rumbling Gear comes only from the free track: buying the paid plan doesn't give you more.

Rumbling Gear can also be traded for contracts, but 120 gear buys only 12 contracts, so a guaranteed SSR Buddy of your choice is the better deal.

Buddy Tier List

Rumbling Pot of Harvests: Buy It If You Play Often

The Rumbling Pot of Harvests is the paid plan of the Rumbling Furnace. If you can play a little every day and level up the Rumbling Furnace, it's good value. Its rewards are:

  • An extra Kojiro as soon as you buy it (the free track gives one only at level 60)
  • Lots of upgrade materials and Zenny, which save you a lot of farming
  • Rutacoin ×680 and Featured Contract ×5
  • First purchase only: one of Devu, Daisho, or Nailu

Devu, Daisho, and Nailu are the motif Buddies of Keres, Pyro, and Arkaya, so pick the one that matches an SSR adventurer you have. Pyro is free from Adventurer's Chronicles.

To get the rewards you need to level up the Rumbling Furnace within the season, and nothing in it is exclusive. If you play at your own pace, skipping it is fine. You can buy it at any time during the season, so level up first and decide once you see how far you get.

Rumbling Pot of Festivities: Usually Not Needed

The Rumbling Pot of Festivities includes all the Rumbling Pot of Harvests rewards, plus a third Kojiro, the icon Stylish Cat, and 10 extra levels. If you play enough, the 10 levels aren't worth much, so the Rumbling Pot of Harvests is usually enough. You can upgrade later, but that costs more than choosing it when you first buy.

Consider it only if you want to limit-break Kojiro: it can't be pulled from banners, so there are few ways to get copies.

Leveling the Rumbling Furnace

Its quests are split into daily and weekly ones. Daily quests reset every day and weekly quests every Monday, so complete them and collect the rewards before they reset. Quests can raise the level only so far each week (the weekly cap is shown at the top of the screen), so check the days left in the season before buying the paid plan.

You can also buy levels for 60 Rutacoin each. It's generally not worth it, but consider it if you won't reach your target level in time.

One-Time Packs

Expedition Packs

Treasure Vault

Treasure Vault with free and premium reward rows by Adventurer Rank

The Treasure Vault gives Rutacoin ×1280 when you buy it, then more contracts as your Adventurer Rank rises: Featured Contract ×15, Standard Contract ×30 (10 of them are free without buying), and Zenny ×16000 in total. Unlike the Rumbling Furnace, it has no time limit, so you can collect everything even at a slow pace.

Journey's Welcome Gift (Starter Packs)

Journey's Welcome Gift I for 60 Rutacoin, and II and III for 60 Crimson Crest Coins each

These packs can be bought once per account. They're very cheap and give a batch of Standard Contract and Featured Contract. The first one costs Rutacoin, so you can get it without paying.

Topping Up Crimson Crest Coins

Top-ups buy Crimson Crest Coins, the paid currency. There's no split between free and paid coins, so coins from any source work for every paid item. The first purchase of each amount gives double the coins.

Your first top-up gives 10 of each kind of contract and a layered armor set. Even the smallest top-up counts, so it's worth making a small one if you can.

Top Up on 3 Different Days for Keres's Layered Armor

Topping up on 3 days in total gives layered armor for Keres. If you won't spend everything at once, split your top-ups over 3 days.

Cumulative Top-Up Bonuses

Rewards also come at totals of Crimson Crest Coins topped up. The useful ones are contracts at 1000 and 10000 and an SSR adventurer chest at 60000. The rest are cosmetics.

Brush Picks Are the Best Way to Buy Zenny

Monthly Brush Pick with Radiant Brush ×150 and Zenny for 980 Crimson Crest Coins

Weekly Brush Pick and Monthly Brush Pick give lots of Radiant Brush and Zenny. You can earn Zenny from many activities, so it's not urgent, but you also spend a lot of it. Buy these if you want to progress quickly.

Free Pulls & Contracts / Visage Guide

Wishes and Layered Armor

Wish is a box-style draw whose main prizes are exclusive layered armor, along with icons, frames, stamps, and Featured Contract. A draw starts at 60 Crimson Crest Coins, and the cost rises the more you draw. Layered armor doesn't affect stats, so draw only if you want one of the prizes.

The shop's layered armor tab sells sets for 60 to 1280 Crimson Crest Coins. They change looks only, so buy the ones you like.

How to Buy

Top up as follows.

  1. Tap the menu button at the top right of the screen.
  2. Open the Shop from the menu.
  3. Open the top-up tab.
  4. Choose an amount and pay with your store's payment method.

Not everything is bought with Crimson Crest Coins. Items with a real-money price, such as the monthly pass, the Rumbling Pot of Harvests, the Treasure Vault, and season packs, are bought directly without topping up.
