Kulune Village has four Base Facilities: the Forging Workshop, Canteen, Resource Center and Melding Workshop. This guide lists when each one unlocks, what you can do there and which NPC to talk to.
Base Facilities List and Unlock Conditions
There are four Base Facilities: the Forging Workshop, Canteen, Resource Center and Melding Workshop. All of them are in Kulune Village, and some of their features can also be used from the menu.
| Facility | Unlock conditions and features |
|---|---|
| Forging Workshop | Forge Weapon: Chapter 1 "Rekindling the Forge". Forge Armor: Chapter 1 "There for the Radiantite". Upgrade: Chapter 2. Forge and upgrade weapons and armor. |
| Canteen | Chapter 2 "Slingers and Suppers". Order and eat meals. |
| Resource Center | Chapter 1 "Go to the Muddy Swamp". Limited-Time Supplies: Chapter 2 "Slingers and Suppers". Buy items and materials with Zenny. |
| Melding Workshop | Research Points Melding: Chapter 2 "Slingers and Suppers". Visage Melding: Chapter 4 "Wondrous Visages". Meld Visages and turn items into Research Points. |
Forging Workshop: Forge, Upgrade and Dismantle Gear
The Forging Workshop is where you forge and upgrade gear. Open the map and look for its marker in Kulune Village (it is called Workshop in the Fast Travel list).

Talk to Peach, the Artisan, to use the Forging Workshop. Her options are Forge Weapon, Forge Armor, Upgrade Weapon, Upgrade Armor and Dismantle Equipment.

Forging a weapon or armor uses materials and Zenny. Hunt the matching monster to collect the materials. New weapons and armor become available the first time you defeat a monster.
Upgrading raises a piece of gear's stats. For example, the Upgrade screen shows the Blazing Shotel I going from Rarity 3/5 to 4/5 and from 79 to 113 Physical Attack. Armor also gains extra skill effects at certain upgrade levels, and new upgrade stages open as your Adventurer Rank goes up.

Dismantle Equipment gives back some of the materials used to make a piece of gear.

Quick Forge in Research: Survival lets you craft without a forge. Once it is unlocked, you can forge weapons and armor from the menu the same way as at the Forging Workshop, without walking there.

Canteen: Meals, Take Out and the Daily Discount
The Canteen is where you order and eat meals. Its marker is in Kulune Village, and the Fast Travel list calls it Dining Area. Talk to "Swift Blade" Meowffin, the Head Chef, and choose Dine to order.

A meal raises your stats for a while and restores Satiety. For example, Premium Bamboo Rice with Cured Meat gives Health +10, Stamina +35 and Satiety +50 for 01:00:00. The map description says the right combinations of ingredients also activate Canteen Skills. Ordering a meal costs Research Points.

When you order, choose Dine In to eat on the spot or Take Out to carry the meal in your pouch. Take Out lets you use the effect later.

Your first Dine In meal each day is 50% off (First Dine-In Discount). The Braised Pork Hock went from 200 to 100 Research Points. The discount is available once your Proof of Mastery reaches Seasoned Explorer I, so use it for your first meal each day to save Research Points.

Field Cooking in Research: Survival lets you eat meals anytime before entering combat. Once it is unlocked, you can eat from Edit Squad or the hunt lobby with the same options as the Canteen.

Resource Center: Items, Materials and Limited-Time Supplies
The Resource Center is where you buy items. It is in Kulune Village, and you talk to Ruck, the Supply Manager. His options are Purchase, Limited-Time Supplies and Chat.

Purchase sells combat items and materials for Zenny. Each one has a daily limit. Buying from the Resource Center saves time when you need materials quickly, for example to turn them into Research Points at the Melding Workshop.

You can buy up to 5 of each item per day. The table shows the total Zenny for buying the daily limit (for example, 5 Potions at 400 Zenny each cost 2,000 Zenny).

Limited-Time Supplies refresh daily at 12:00. Each player can buy one Epic Rare item and five Rare items, and they help with raising Bond Level and getting Layered Armor.

You cannot buy from the Resource Center through the menu. The shop icon in the menu does not open it, so go to Kulune Village and talk to Ruck.
Melding Workshop: Visage Melding and Research Points
The Melding Workshop is where you make Visages and get or spend Research Points. It is in Kulune Village, and you talk to Garnett, the Melding Researcher. His options are Visage Melding, Research Points Melding, Research Points Shop and Chat.

Visage Melding uses five Illustrations to make one random Visage. The new Visage cannot be a higher rarity than the Illustrations you used, and if all five are the same rarity, the new Visage is that rarity too.

Research Points Melding turns items you no longer need, such as dishes, local specialties and crafting materials, into Research Points. You can earn up to 8000 Research Points per week this way.

The Research Points Shop sells rare items such as the Aesoland Style Crate (300 Research Points) and gifts, plus combat items and small monster materials. Recovery items and materials have weekly limits.

You can also use Visage Melding, Research Points Melding and the Research Points Shop from Meld in the menu. Only Chat needs a visit to Garnett, so use the menu once Meld is unlocked.
