How to Unlock Ruger Aidal
Fight It in the Main Story
You face Ruger Aidal in the main story, in Chapter 6's quest 6-14, “Sound the Horn Here.” It is currently the toughest monster in the story.
Hunt It in the Apex Challenge
From November 7, 2026, Ruger Aidal is also the target of the Apex Challenge, a weekly challenge in Season 0. It unlocks once you have progressed 45 Story Quests since seasons unlocked, and clearing it gives materials for Apex Weapons.

How to Beat Ruger Aidal
Bring Fire (or Ice)
Ruger Aidal is weak to both Fire and Ice, but Fire is the better pick because more adventurers can trigger Elemental resonance with it. The limited adventurer Midori is a top choice. If you have Rhodes, a party built around Fated Adventurer (Heavy Bowgun) with Ice also works well.
Recommended Adventurers
Heavy Bowgun With Slicing Ammo Works Well
Since no attack type stands out except on the Tail, a Heavy Bowgun that fires Slicing Ammo at the Wings is a strong choice. With good positioning, a Long Sword or Hammer can also break parts while handling its attacks.
Its Wing-Spear Attack Can't Be Guarded
After Ruger Aidal forms spears on its wings, the attack that follows can't be guarded. Always dodge toward its body, or pile damage on the Wings to break them.
During the Sun Attack, Get Under It or Go to the Edge
For its big sun attack, Ruger Aidal flies up into the air and takes a while before it goes off. Move directly beneath it, where you take no damage, or to the outer edge of the arena, where you can avoid it just by running. You can also Perfect Evade or guard the walls of flame.
Dive-Evade the Final Crash
The sun attack ends with Ruger Aidal crashing into the ground, hitting the whole arena. Once the walls of flame die down, sheathe your weapon, run away from it, and Dive-Evade right as it hits the ground.
