Rutacoin is the currency you earn by playing Monster Hunter Outlanders, and its main use is pulling on banners. This guide covers the best ways to farm it, how much you need, and what to spend it on first. Information as of November 4, 2026.
How to Farm Rutacoin
You get Rutacoin from daily rewards, events, quests and more. The daily and weekly rewards are the steadiest, so collect them every day.
| Source | Rutacoin | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Daily and weekly activity | 50 a day + 100 a week | Best steady source |
| Limited-time events | Varies | Logins, missions, adventurer trials |
| Monster field tasks | 50 for some tasks | One-time per task |
| Quest rewards | Varies | Story quests and field requests |
| Monster Challenge | 100 per stage | C rank: just clear in time |
| Area Study | 50 at the first milestone | Points from exploration and challenge quests |
| Shop | Paid | Packs and the monthly pass |
Daily and weekly activity

The daily activity rewards on the Adventure Request screen give up to 50 Rutacoin a day, and they only take a little play to finish, so collect them every day. The weekly activity rewards, on the same screen, give another 100 Rutacoin a week.
Limited-time events

Limited-time events often give Rutacoin for logging in, finishing missions, or trying out a limited adventurer. Check the running events from the Event Center at the top right.
Monster field tasks

Some of the field tasks set for each large monster reward Rutacoin, for example 50 for hunting it 10 times in the field. The tasks are things like total hunts in the field or hunting with a certain weapon type, so they fill up as you hunt.
Quest rewards

Some quests give Rutacoin when you clear them. This includes not only the main story but also requests you take in the field, so clear quests as you go.
Monster Challenge

Monster Challenge is a time attack where your reward depends on your clear time. As long as you clear a stage within the time limit you get the C rank reward, which is 100 Rutacoin per stage.
Area Study

Each area's Area Study has exploration quests and challenge quests. Clearing them earns points, and reaching a point milestone gives Rutacoin. Some tasks ask for things like a photo under certain conditions, so check them as you explore.
Shop
You can also get Rutacoin by paying in the shop. If you want it fast, consider buying only as much as you need.
How Much Rutacoin You Need
| Use | Rutacoin |
|---|---|
| 1 contract (1 pull) | 150 |
| SSR pity (90 pulls) | 13,500 |
| Featured adventurer guarantee (120 pulls) | 18,000 |
| 1 Rumbling Furnace level | 60 |
| 1 Energy refill | 50–300 |
| Daily Supplies (paid tiers) | 10 / 30 |
Rutacoin mostly goes into contracts at 150 per pull, so reaching SSR pity costs 13,500 and the featured adventurer guarantee costs 18,000. The daily and weekly activity rewards alone bring in 450 Rutacoin a week, which is 3 pulls. Monster Challenge, field tasks, Area Study and events add more on top.

What to Spend Rutacoin On First
Spend Rutacoin in this order. Most of it should go to Featured Contracts.
| Use | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Featured Contract | Best use: spend most of your Rutacoin here |
| Energy refills | Only the 1st and 2nd refill of the day, when you need Energy |
| Rumbling Furnace levels | Only near the end of a season, if a reward is out of reach |
| Standard Contract | Not recommended |
| Rename card | Only if you want to change your name |
| Daily Supplies (paid tiers) | Not recommended |
Featured Contracts for Pulls

For 150 Rutacoin you can exchange for any kind of contract. The best use is the Featured Contract, which pulls on the limited banners with strong adventurers. Standard Contracts are easier to get and only pull on the standard banners you can use any time, so take the red Featured Contract. The rename card costs the same 150, so only buy it if you want to change your name.
Exchange from the Banner Screen
You don't have to go to the shop. If you are short on contracts, you can exchange Rutacoin right on the banner screen. Doing it there means you can't pick the wrong contract for the adventurer you want, so we recommend it.

Energy Refills: First Two Only

Rutacoin can also refill Energy (stamina), 40 at a time, up to 5 times a day. Rutacoin is valuable for pulls, so free-to-play players should hold back, but a refill can make sense when you want to raise your Adventurer Rank faster or farm materials. The price rises with each refill, and from the 3rd one each Energy costs 4 times as much as on the 1st, so stop after the 2nd refill.
| Refill | Rutacoin | Rutacoin per Energy |
|---|---|---|
| No. 1 | 50 | 1.25 |
| No. 2 | 100 | 2.5 |
| No. 3 | 200 | 5 |
| No. 4 | 200 | 5 |
| No. 5 | 300 | 7.5 |
Daily Supplies: Take the Free Tier

Your guild's Daily Supplies let you spend Rutacoin (10 or 30) for a better set of items. The extra is only Visage upgrade materials and more Guild Emblems, so it isn't worth the Rutacoin. Take the free tier.
Rumbling Furnace Levels: Only at Season's End

You can buy Rumbling Furnace levels with Rutacoin, 60 per level. Doing your daily tasks is enough to max it out within the season, so buying levels usually isn't worth it. If the season is about to end and you won't reach a reward you want, consider buying the last few levels.
