The Monster Challenge in Monster Hunter Outlanders is a high-difficulty time attack where your clear time decides your rewards: Rutacoin, Radiant Coin for the season shop and, in Master mode, ranking titles. This page covers the rewards, how Normal and Master modes work, what to know before you start and tips for an S rank. Information as of November 5, 2026.
Monster Challenge Rewards
- Rutacoin and Radiant Coin by Clear Time
- Radiant Coin for the Season Shop
- Ranking Titles in Master Mode
Rutacoin and Radiant Coin by Clear Time
Each stage gives a reward for each rank you reach. The clear times for each rank differ by stage and are shown on the stage screen.
| Rank | Reward |
|---|---|
| S rank | Radiant Coin ×50 |
| A rank | Radiant Coin ×30 |
| B rank | Radiant Coin ×20 |
| C rank | Rutacoin ×100 |
The rewards can only be earned once. In Normal mode, each stage gives 100 Rutacoin for the C rank; in Master mode this goes up to 300 per stage, and you also get more Radiant Coin.
Radiant Coin for the Season Shop
Radiant Coin is the currency of the season shop, where you can trade for Ruger Aidal Visages, contracts, layered armor and more. You can earn up to 4,000 Radiant Coin from the Monster Challenge each season, so play it while the season lasts.
Ranking Titles in Master Mode
Master mode hands out titles based on your place in the ranking, which goes by the tier you reach and your clear time: separate titles for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, 4th–50th and 51st–200th. The ranking rewards are titles only, with no items, so only chase a high place if you want the title.
What Is the Monster Challenge?
The Monster Challenge is a high-difficulty mode where only your clear time counts. It tests how well you have trained a wide range of adventurers, so it's for players who want to test their strength. It unlocks in Chapter 3 of the story.
Normal and Master Modes

There are two difficulties: Normal and Master. Master is harder but gives better rewards, and it refreshes every 2 weeks, so you can earn its rewards again and again. Master unlocks once you complete all Normal Monster Challenges.
Two Parties from Tier 7

From Tier 7 of Normal mode, you need two parties, one for each stage. You can't use the same adventurer in both parties, so it helps to train a wide range of adventurers.
Master Mode Has a Ranking

Master mode ranks players by the tier they reach and their clear time. Depending on your place, you get special titles only available from Master mode.
Things to Know Before You Start
You Need Up to 8 Adventurers
You set your party when you start a tier, and it stays the same for every stage of that tier. You can't change it partway through. Tiers with two parties need 8 different adventurers, so train more than your main four.
Don't Forget Master Mode
Master mode refreshes every 2 weeks. Its Rutacoin is valuable because you can spend it on contracts and Energy refills, so make sure to clear it before each refresh.
Tips for an S Rank Clear
Control an Adventurer with the Monster's Weak Element
Pay attention to the element of the adventurer you control. Your damage directly affects your clear time, so hitting the monster's weak element makes an S rank much easier.
Learn the Monsters
For a smooth clear, study and practice the monsters that appear. You can take on the Monster Challenge as many times as you like for free, so learn their moves by fighting them.
Radiant monsters can have special weak points. Hitting them deals big damage and also interrupts the monster, so check where they are before you start.
Make Use of Each Stage's Bonuses

Each stage has its own bonuses, such as more damage for certain elements or stronger stats when you use certain actions. Pick adventurers and play in a way that triggers them.
Build a Balanced Party
Mix Assault, Disruptor and Support adventurers in your party. A balanced party gets its Ultimates back faster, which makes the fight go more smoothly.
